Abstract:

Introduction: Mentoring is one of the important educational approaches that leads to professional and personal growth and development in STUDENTS. This study was conducted with the aim of "Monitoring the guidance of professors of NURSING school from the perspective of STUDENTS". Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in the Faculty of NURSING of Baqiyatallah University of Medical Sciences (AJ) in 2022. The number of participants was 330, including associate degree STUDENTS in emergency medicine, bachelor degree in NURSING, master degree in internal surgery NURSING and special NURSING care, and doctorate in NURSING completed the questionnaire. The sampling method was census. A standard guidance questionnaire was used, which included two domains, guidance and emotional. Descriptive and inferential statistical tests of paired t and independent t and ANOVA were used. The data was analyzed with SPSS26 software. Results: The mean ± standard deviation of the total score was: 52.48 ± 16.04, the mean ± standard deviation of the guidance domain: 31.99 ± 11.93, and the mean ± standard deviation of the emotional domain: 19.94 ± 4.91. The scores of the areas and the total score in the three intensities of weak, medium and good showed that the intensity of the scores of the areas and the total score were evaluated as good. Conclusion: Despite the fact that a high percentage of the guidance score is good, it is still necessary to improve the guidance of professors and this should be taken into account. Considering the high importance of guidance in the field of growth and excellence of STUDENTS, addressing this issue is one of the requirements of all faculties and it is necessary to continuously monitor how it is done.

Abstract:

Background and Objectives: STUDENTS, as the builders of tomorrow's society, can be the foundation of many changes and developments. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship of emotional intelligence with hope and self-concept among NURSING STUDENTS of Hamedan University of Medical Sciences. Materials and Methods: This descriptive correlational study was conducted on 486 NURSING STUDENTS of Hamedan University of Medical Sciences in 2022-23 who met the inclusion criteria. The samples were selected by census method. The data were collected using a demographic information form, the Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test, Miller's Hope Questionnaire, and Beck's Self-Concept Questionnaire. Data analysis was done in SPSS 20 software using Pearson's correlation tests, one-way analysis of variance, t-test for two independent samples, and linear regression. Results: In this research, 50.40% of the participants were male and 49.60% were female. Most of the participants (13%) were studying in the first and third semesters. The mean and standard deviation of study variables were obtained at 129.58±10.76 for emotional intelligence, 41.64±4.79 for hope, and 86.68±8.82 for self-concept. With the exception of the relationship between the emotion regulation component and the deviant expression component (P=0.548), other components of the emotional intelligence variable showed a significant direct statistical relationship with all the components of hope and also the total hope score (P<0.001). Regarding the strength of the relationships, the strongest relationship was observed between the emotional regulation component and the agency thinking component (Pearson correlation coefficient=0.431). The component of evaluating emotions in oneself and others only showed a statistically significant direct relationship with the job effectiveness component (Pearson correlation coefficient=0.114, P=0.012) and with total self-esteem score (Pearson correlation coefficient=0.031, P=0.031). Moreover, a statistically significant direct relationship was found between total emotional intelligence score and job effectiveness component (Pearson correlation coefficient=0.154, P=0.001), as well as total self-esteem score (Pearson correlation coefficient=0.103, P=0.023). Conclusion: The study indicates a positive relationship between emotional intelligence, hope, and self-concept among NURSING STUDENTS. The results of this study showed that improving emotional intelligence can enhance the skills and performance of NURSING STUDENTS, and it is proposed as an effective strategy for improving patient care in the NURSING field.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND: NURSING is a skill oriented discipline. In clinical training, learning process is mainly related to performance. Moreover, developing skills is one of the main goals of clinical training, because it is through frequent practice that one can develop a skill. This study aimed to determine the frequency of practicing basic skills during NURSING STUDENTS' traineeship.METHODS: This was a cross-sectional descriptive analytic study, using two questionnaires, one for STUDENTS taking a traineeship course and the other for graduated STUDENTS and professors.RESULTS: From among seventeen skills studied in this research, the following have not met the expectation of professors and graduated STUDENTS: subcutaneous injection, blood transfusion, urinary catheterization, nasogastric tube insertion, lavage and enema with the average frequency of 0.06, 1.49, 0.79, 0.80, 0.08 and 0.17, respectively. There was a significant difference between professors' and graduated STUDENTS' opinions about the frequency of performing skills of muscular injection, serum preparation with ordinary infusion set and micro-infusion set, blood transfusion, dressing, Intake/Output control, oxygen therapy, airway suctioning, gavage, and lavage procedures.CONCLUSION: It seems that nurses do not have enough opportunities to practice some of the basic skills and the reason is that during their traineeships in wards the incidence of a need for these skills are few, and usually interns, residents and NURSING-STUDENTS perform these skills together. This should be considered in curriculum planning.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence and etiology of NURSING Caries (N.C.) in 2 - 4 year old children in Tehran, 1997. Seven hundred and thirty children (378 boys and 352 girls), aged 18 to 54 months, were selected from Health Centers throughout the Greater Tehran. Cases were selected in a randomized multi - stage manner. Results showed a total of 21.1% (154 case) with N.C. A relationship between N.C. and area, sex, patients's age, mother's age, regular dental attendance, feeding through the bottle at night and its content, was found. In conclusion, it is emphasised that the most important etiologic factor in N.C. is feeding with a bottle at night.
